WASSA AMENFI WEST MUNICIPAL ASEMBLY’S MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY

The Wassa Amenfi West Municipal Assembly celebrated this year’s menstrual hygiene day to break the stigma and taboos surrounding menstruation and also to raise awareness about the importance of safe hygienic menstrual management for all women. This year’s World Menstrual Hygiene Day started with a radio talk on how to create awareness on menstrual Hygiene Management on the 27th May 2026 and 28th May, before the main program at Moseaso Durbar Center. Under the theme “TOGETHER FOR A WORLD WHERE NO CHILD IS LEFT BEHIND” The occasion drew distinguished guest including Honorable Priscilla Yorke, MCE for Wassa Amenfi West, Nananom from Moseaso, Education Director’s representative and other notable officers from GES and Ghana Health Service.

The event was organized by Ms. Naomi krakue, Gender Desk Officer for Wassa Amenfi West, in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, the Municipal Health Directorate, Social Welfare and Municipal Information Service, aimed to create awareness and initiate positive change regarding Menstrual Health.

Students from Moseaso M/A recited poems related to menstrual health and also demonstrated how to use sanitary pads.

The Municipal Chief Executive in her speech stated that, menstruation is a natural cause for every girl child and so every girl should not feel shy and ashamed to come to school or go in public when menstruating. She added that, all the male students should support the females when menstruating by not using words that will make them feel shy more.

The resource person who is also a nurse demonstrated how to use Pad and other traditional ways to use cloth during menstruation.

After, sanitary pads were shared among all the female students, and the male students were given exercise books as well.
