The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), together with the Security Services, has engaged market women in the Municipality as part of efforts to promote safety, orderliness, and proper use of public spaces within the market areas.
The engagement focused on the need for market women and traders to desist from putting up structures or displaying goods on the main roads and other unauthorized areas. The MCE emphasized that such activities could obstruct the free movement of vehicles and pedestrians, create congestion, and pose significant safety risks to both traders and the general public.
The Security Services also advised the market women to comply with the directives of the Municipal Assembly and cooperate with relevant authorities to maintain law and order. They stressed the importance of keeping access routes clear to allow emergency services, including ambulances and fire service vehicles, to respond promptly when necessary.
The MCE further encouraged the market women to work closely with the Assembly and other stakeholders to ensure that trading activities are carried out in a safe, organized, and orderly manner.
The engagement forms part of the Assembly’s broader efforts to promote public safety, regulate development, and ensure the proper management of market spaces within the Municipality.
