MCE OF WASSA AMENFI WEST LEADS DESILTING EXERCISE IN OLD MARKET

On January 24, 2026, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Wassa Amenfi West, Hon Priscilla Yorke, led a team of assembly officials and inmates from the Hiawa Prisons in a desilting exercise of major drains in the old market.

The exercise, which was carried out in collaboration with the Municipal Environmental Health Officer (MEHO) and other officers of the assembly, aimed to clear blockages and improve drainage in the area.

The MCE, who inspected the work, emphasized the importance of maintaining clean and clear drains to prevent flooding and improve sanitation in the market.

“We are committed to working with our partners to keep our town clean and safe. This exercise is part of our ongoing efforts to improve the environment and promote health and hygiene in our communities,” she said.

The inmates from Hiawa Prisons, who participated in the exercise, were commended by the MCE for their efforts in contributing to the development of the district.

The desilting exercise was welcomed by market traders and users, who expressed gratitude to the assembly for addressing the drainage issue.

The MCE thanked the Hiawa Prisons authorities for their collaboration and support, saying it was a great example of partnership in development.
