WASSA AMENFI WEST GREEN GHANA DAY
The green Ghana day was introduced in 2021 as part of the afforestation and reforestation programme to restore the lost forest cover of Ghana and to contribute to the global effort to mitigate climate change.
Wassa Amenfi West Municipal Assembly participated in this year’s Green Ghana Day with distribution of ornamental and fruit tree seedlings.
The Municipal Chief Executive (Honorable Lord Nana Tandoh) together with some of the Directors and officers of the forestry Commission went to Mimire forest in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipal Assembly to plant trees.
The MCE Honorable Lord Nana Tandoh in his speech explained that, the planting of trees moderate local climate by providing shade, regulate temperature extremes, and improve the land’s capacity to adapt to climate change. He made known that the assembly received some of the trees to be planted across the country this year.
To ensure the seedling planted is protected, wooden protectors were procured so that the trees planted will serve its purpose.
